If you've searched for a songwriting course for beginners, a way to write a song without knowing music theory, or how to play an instrument, this is for you.
There's a thread of something that keeps tugging at you, and you're not sure where it leads. A hum that arrives in the shower and dissolves before you start the day. A phrase you typed into your notes app somewhere near midnight, and have never opened again.
You've thought about writing a song. Maybe for a long time now, but something always holds you back before you begin.
Maybe you don't play an instrument. You might not know the names of chords or scales, and the thought of learning all of that first, before you're "allowed" to write anything, makes the whole thing feel further away rather than closer.
Or maybe it isn't the technical part at all. Maybe it's a quieter thought, underneath everything else: I'm not really a creative person. That's for other people.
So the hum stays a hum. The line stays a line, unopened, unsung. And the song that's already somewhere inside you waits to be found.
By the end of this 10 week guided journey, you'll have written and finished a song of your own. Your words, your melody, something that didn't exist in the world before you made it.
We’ll explore through embodied vocal exercises, simple musical games, and connection exercises that bring us back to the creativity that lives within all of us. All exercises will be tailored to people at the start of their songwriting journey and we'll learn through experiencing rather than theory
This is a course that guides you into creating songs that come from connection with ourselves, each other and the world around us
- connect with the creative energy that is within all of us and is all around us so you can always have a starting point for writing songs
- create song lyrics so that you can express the stories of your inner world
- create songs without an instrument so that you can get started with songwriting without any equipment or experience needed
- connect with music intuitively so that you can sing with an instrument using simple chords
- build confidence so that you can sing in front of a small group
This is for you if:
You have little or no experience writing songs or playing an instrument. You carry fragments, a hum, a phrase, a feeling, and aren't sure what to do with them. You've spent years thinking "maybe one day" and you're ready to stop waiting. You want to feel more connected to yourself, your voice, and your own creativity.
This is not for you if:
You're looking to learn formal music theory in depth. You already write and play confidently and want an advanced technical course. You want something self-paced and pre-recorded, rather than live and shared with others.
8 live, interactive calls. On these live calls we'll explore songwriting through embodied vocal practices, simple musical games and connection exercises. Each one builds gently on the last, carrying you from fragment to finished song.
A 30 minute 1:1 session with Georgie. Time given entirely to your song, your voice, your process, whatever you need most in that moment.
Two guest teacher sessions. Fresh perspectives and new ways in, from teachers I trust, woven through the course alongside my own.
Progressive weekly mini practices. Each week builds softly on the last, with mini practices to play with at home. These will include embodiment, play, lyrics, melody, expression, so that by the final call, a whole song has taken shape without it ever feeling like a leap.
A WhatsApp group for the whole group. A place to share a line you're stuck on, a voice note you're quietly proud of, or just to feel the company of others doing this same brave thing.
Buddy groups. A smaller circle to check in with between calls. Songwriting can feel exposing. You won't be doing it alone.
A final sharing session. The chance to share the song you've written with a group who has watched it grow, and to hear what everyone else has grown too.
The maximum group size will be 10 people

I’m a singer, harpist, songwriter and creative facilitator. I help people find their way back to the creativity and voice within.
I don't believe creativity is a talent some people have and others don't. I believe it's something we lose touch with, not something we're missing. My work is embodied and playful, with no music theory and no jargon, built for people who feel shy, unsure, or convinced they're "not creative," because I believe that creativity lives in all of us.
I've spent more than 10 years teaching songwriting and voice through live workshops, courses, and events. I've also honed my skills as a songwriter and performer, performing extensively around the UK and Europe. My album 'Wise as a Fool' has been played on BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6Music and I recently performed one of my vocal compositions at the Tate Modern.

Jenny is a yoga teacher, musician, guide, seeker, student, writer, translator and lover of all the ways that soul tries to speak to us through the body, song, words, emotion and the land that we live on.
Jenny will be sharing a session inspired by Land, Ancestry and Song...
Libby is a mythopoetic therapist, embodiment guide and Dream Witch devoted to helping others access the imaginal realms.
Her journey has been shaped by the wisdom of Depth Psychology, Tantra and the somatic arts.
But more than that, it has been shaped by a profound trust in the mystery of life and its ability to guide us toward wholeness.
Libby will be sharing a session inspired by The Selkie Story. Half woman, half seal, half human, half wild she traces the path between two worlds and coaxes us to feel the wild within

No. Most people who join have never written a song or played an instrument. That's exactly who this is for.
You don't need to be able to play an instrument. We will mainly work with voice, words, and simple musical games. In call 3: 'Introduction to Chords and Melody' we will playfully explore singing with instruments. There will be two options either to sing with a music app on your phone or to borrow an instrument from a friend. These exercises will be tailored to people new to playing instruments.
Many people feel that they don't have a 'good' singing voice. These sessions are specifically tailored to people that want to build their confidence with singing. Each week we'll explore gentle embodied vocal exercises to help you find a connection with your own unique sound.
No, we won't be learning complex music theory. I love to break down musical concepts into accessible chunks and we will learn through play rather than theoretical explanation
Each call combines embodied vocal exercises, simple musical games, and connection exercises. Every week builds gently on the last, so by the end, a whole song has taken shape
The course is designed for you to join all the calls live as many elements will include interactive group work. That said, I understand that sometimes it is not possible to join a call live so all calls will be recorded and uploaded to our online course portal.
Each week we will have a 2 hour live call on a Tuesday evening from 6-8pm. I will also share some mini exercises to try at home that you can take at your own pace
The maximum group size will be 10 people
